Lev David leaves East Coast Radio to launch LevDavid.com

After nearly four years of producing East Coast Radio's morning show, Lev David has decided to leave. His last show with the station will be on Friday, 30 September, between 6 and 9am.

This concludes a distinctly unusual run in morning radio and opens up an exciting new chapter in David's media career with the launch of LevDavid.com—the online home of Lev David as a media artist.

In addition to showcasing David's own work, the website will soon become a conversation space for "freethinkers of the media", and an online champion for the open exchange of ideas.

One of David's major clients after he leaves East Coast Radio will be the radio station's parent company, Kagiso Media Limited.

Lev David began writing professionally when he was 15. Although he tried to lead a more ordinary life by studying economics at the University of Natal, his comic social commentary resulted in him being headhunted by one of South Africa's major independent radio stations, East Coast Radio.

At 21, he was the youngest person to produce the country's longest-running breakfast show, The Daryl Ilbury Show. He went on to produce a breakfast show for Darren Scott, and then one of the most ambitious shows in South African radio history — a totally anchorless breakfast show with Jane Linley, Makhosi Khoza and Mel Massyn.

Currently, David is also intimately involved in the development of a major TV series which, though still under wraps, aims to send South African TV shuddering out of the grey.
