The donation was in celebration of the birthday of Zinto's founder and CEO, Michelle Combrinck. The brand activation agency contributed the funds to the animal rescue and shelter in Kempton Park, alongside a variety of cat and dog food, warm blankets and pet-friendly toys which were given to the Sandton SPCA.
Kempton Park SPCA manager Melissa Bailey said she was overwhelmed by the donation, "There's always a need for funding as the centre cares for up to 300 stray, abandoned, rescued and unwanted cats and dogs. Our overall monthly expenses come to over R110,000 per month and we are reliant on donations from businesses and the public to stay afloat."
"The idea behind the contribution was to give Combrinck a gift that would warm her heart and to follow in her footsteps by paying it forward and making a positive contribution to society and the well-being of the community. Her extreme love of creatures large and small meant that the SPCA was an obvious choice," said Miguel Correia of Zinto.
"Zinto is very community-minded when it comes to our projects and serving our communities that includes helping care for the pets that bring us joy," he added.
Correia concluded by saying that businesses need to take better care of the public and is urging other businesses to match - or better - Zinto's donation.
