Tapping into the social media space, the ABF auctioned a donated PVR on its Facebook page in December 2009. The money raised has been used to benefit those in the industry in need of financial assistance.
“Bidding started at R1000 and we were hoping for a good response,” says Sharlene Vallance, the ABF's Fundraising Officer. "We weren't disappointed as the winning bid was posted by Giles Shepherd, the ABF President (who said insider trading was taboo?)." Shepherd used this opportunity to give the PVR away as a Christmas gift.
“The ABF is inundated with requests for help during the festive season, so this donation from Multichoice came at exactly the right time.”
The ABF would like to thank Multichoice for its very generous donation of the PVR, and the company's continued support throughout the years.
