The judges, Pepe Marais from Joe Public, Pluto Panoussis from The Open Window School of Visual Communication and Chirene Campbell from Owlhurst Communications will make Mahlanya part of a creative team to get first-hand, step-by-step experience of the creative process.

The ABF's bursary subcommittee meeting took place in November where judges reviewed a shortlisted five applications and portfolios to determine the ABF's 2012 Bursary recipient.

"Ready to make a very real difference"

Sharlene Vallance, executive committee member of the ABF explains, "For the past three years, the ABF has been awarding a bursary to a student from AAA School of Advertising. Education is an important aspect of a young adult's life and we are finding that more and more students are juggling two jobs in order to make ends meet and pay tuition fees.

"Although this is not the 'core business' of the ABF, we are ready to make a very real difference in one young person's life. Giving an opportunity to a youngster like this might very well mean the difference between success and failure."

Opportunity to display creative work

The event also gave AAA students the opportunity to display their creative work from the year and get recognition from their families, peers and industry professionals, all of who were invited to enjoy the evening.

"Not only is this an opportunity for prospective graduates to show off their hard work, but industry professionals are invited to come
along and see this young talent that is about to be launched into the job market," says Ludi Koekemoer, principal of the AAA School of Advertising.
