The Nokia Asha 306 and Asha 311 run the Nokia Series 40 operating system and are expected to launch in South Africa this month.
The Asha 311 is expected to be the flagship of the Asha range and has more multimedia features than the A306, including video player and audio streaming.
Another difference between the two lies in the connectivity features. The A311 has Wi-Fi and 3G network capabilities and a 3-megapixel camera sensor, while the A306 has built-in Wi-Fi and the inferior 2G GPRS network capability plus a 2-megapixel camera sensor. Neither has a flash for its camera.
"Nokia is expected to remain the number one cellphone brand in South Africa through to the end of 2013, but with a slightly diminished market share," the company says. This is despite its diminishing share of the smartphone market in other developed countries.
