School Safety Awareness road shows kick off

Gauteng MEC for Education Barbara Creecy will be launching School Safety Awareness campaigns, which aim to raise awareness on various issues affecting learners.

The week-long campaigns to be launched in various provincial schools, starts from 3-7 September 2012.

The campaigns, which are part of the road shows for Grade 8-11 learners, will raise awareness on drug and substance abuse, gangsterism, bullying, late coming and teenage pregnancy.

Andile Galesiwe of "Khumbul'ekhaya" TV show will be the lead inspirational speaker at these roadshows and faith based organisations, psychologists and social workers will be available at each event to assist and make arrangements with learners who might require support.

The campaigns, which all to start at 2pm, will be held in Kagiso Sports Complex, Krugersdorp on 3 September, Lavela Secondary, 1586 Dlamini Str, Zola North on 4 September, Hammanskraal Stadium, Unit D, Temba on 5 September, on 6 September, they will be at Thuto-Tiro Secondary, 7120 Dubula Driver, Sharpville and Huntersfield Stadium on 7 September 2012.
