Deadline nears for Best Corporate Website Awards 2006

Closing date for nominations for the third annual Financial Mail Best Corporate Website Award is 30 July 2006, and, for the first time, this annual evaluation of South Africa's top 100 corporate websites has been elevated to a fully-fledged award, with enhanced metrics and the review panel now including a range of experts.

The Financial Mail Best Corporate Website Award (www.100websites.co.za) recognises excellence in the effective use of corporate websites and email as communication and service delivery channels. Measurement is through assessing these channels from the perspective of users: investors or financial journalists, candidate employees, or potential customers. Categories depend upon which industry sector in which the company operates.

The research for the awards is conducted by BlueRiverStone on behalf of the Financial Mail. The method used by BlueRiverStone is a scenario-based heuristic, and was developed and tested over three years in conjunction with Dr Andrew Thatcher at the University of the Witwatersrand. This method, while not a complete usability assessment, allows the research company to compare on relatively objective criteria many websites from the user's perspective and forms a natural starting point in the design/redesign cycle.

This year, BlueRiverStone has extended an open invitation for 50 companies from outside the JSE Top 100, as well as companies from the AltX, to submit their websites for evaluation. Contenders for the top spots will be selected on a strictly first-come-first-served basis.

Details about the evaluation methodology, past reports and the nominations form are available at www.100websites.co.za.
