Machinery in action at Propak Africa and co-located events

Propak Africa and co-located events The GAPP Print Expo, Pro-Plas Expo, Foodpro and Pro-Label Africa are ideally positioned for visitors to source latest industry information, speak to technical experts, and view interactive product displays and live demonstrations.

Several new initiatives have been included for this year’s show so as to add further visitor value, including an “every day a themed day” experience and free-to-attend seminars.

Taking place at the Expo Centre, Nasrec in Johannesburg, from 12-15 March 2019, the show will give visitors the opportunity to see the latest state-of-the-art equipment and machinery, auxiliary products and services.

Many of the exhibitors will have live demonstrations taking place on their stands, enabling visitors to see machinery in action. These will be taking place across Halls 5, 6 and 7 as well as outside exhibits.

Machinery in action with daily live demos

Among an impressive line-up of equipment that will be demonstrated on the Pyrotec Packmark stand will be the Anser U2 mobile hand-held printer and the 9405 Continuous Inkject (CIJ) coder from Markem-Imaje. Eptech will have the new Vanmark 1820 Peeler/Scrubber in action as well as other slicing and dicing equipment with shredding, mixing and conveying equipment on their stand.

Live demos of the CVC 1220, a high-speed electronic channel tablet/capsule counting machine, will be taking place daily on the Alsitype Pharma Technologies stand. Another opportunity for visitors is to view the live demo of the automatic high speed snack line from Rovema and Jongerius presented by Qualitechs, as well as their locally manufactured Beta-Pack machines.

Trempak will be running live demos of the latest, bestselling Smipack shrink wrapping machinery for the SA market, using Bolphane Shrink films with a wide range of interesting applications, notably in fresh produce. Whereas as Didget will be offering visitors demos of a wide variety of end-use applications, designs, flexible substrates and colour explosion. With Didget’s investment in a wide web HP20 000 digital press, they have now expanded into full production runs for customers.

Live demos of laser coding systems as well as non-toxic, UV visible and invisible edible ink will be the focus of the Tracepack and PPS stand.

Visitors are invited to see the Rapidojet RJ1000 demo machine in action and meet the inventor of the Rapidojet on the Bakery Concepts International and Rapidojet stand. GS Italia will have their GR650 depositor on the stand for sale and will also be demonstrating metered dosing.

Another not-to-be missed demo is of the fast heat-up time, smart melting process and increased operator safety of the proven Robatech Concept line with live demos of the Concept Stream S on the Robatech stand.

Expect to see the latest innovation in X-ray technology as well as coding and marking printers for the FMCG and packaging industry from Automation Techniques; also the live demos of the latest advances in inspection systems, such as Metal Detection and Check-weighing systems from Detection Techniques.

Tetra Pak will be ffocussing mainly on sustainability as it drives to achieve 100% recyclability of its entire carton pack range by 2030, Tetra Pak is demonstrating its ground-breaking sustainability products.

In addition to running continuous live demos, IPEX will also provide visitors with technical information and presentations will be given around new trends in the industry.

Live demos of stretch film and recycling machinery including XHD, China automatic high speed, 3-layer, co-extrusion stretch film machine can be seen on the Afritrade Machinery Importers stand. In addition, Syncro SRL, Italy and Syncro Plasmac SRL, UK, will be presenting their range of blenders and recycling machines.

In Hall 7, visitors can expect to see live demos on the Sarepco/Label Printing Systems stand including the Rotoflex VSI inspection slitter rewinder; Rhyguan Smart with BST TubeScan 100% inspection; Rhyguan Won entry level slitter rewinder; Grafisk Machinery DC330 Mini digitally printed finishing solution; Heaford Cobra video plate mounter; Orion 45 flexo plate washer; and the Alphasonics ultrasonic anilox roll cleaner.

OKI will be using the new Pro1050 label printer with demos on T-shirt printing, labelling samples and envelope printing.

On the Rotocon stand, four Ecoline machines will be on demo; the RDF 330 for digital label finishing, RSI 330 slitter/rewinder/inspection, RDS 330 diecutting/inspection, the RSI 420 with E+L’s Smartscan inspection system and the Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+ series UV inkjet press.

Conferences and free-to-attend seminars alongside Propak Africa

Visitors will be able to listen to top industry experts at the topical and highly informative daily free-to-attend seminars. No booking required, visitors just need to ensure that they arrive early enough for a seat.

“We are really excited about this year’s event which showcases so many new products and services, and also includes our new free-to-attend seminars, taking place daily in Hall 7,” says Smit. “Over 20 speakers will address important industry issues and share their knowledge and expertise. We are also excited about our new ‘four days, four themes’ initiative, with a focus on new products, sustainability, skills development, and a ‘local is lekker’ South African day. The seminar topics will be aligned with our themed days.”

In addition to the seminars, four conferences will be taking place alongside Propak Africa, providing additional learning opportunities for visitors. The Institute of Packaging SA (IPSA) Think Tank will take place on 12 and 13 March, the Printing SA and South African Institute of Printing (SAIP) Conference will take place on 13 March and the SAPRO and WWF-SA Design for Recycling Workshop will take place on 13 March. VDS Media’s Propak Africa Packaging Innovation and Sustainability Conference will take place on 14 March.
