"With the rise in entertainment content of 3D films, television and video games and the increased availability of 3D capture devices such as cameras and webcams, users are demanding more functionality from their display devices," says Bennie Budler, product manager for IT products at Samsung Electronics SA.

"Consumers will not only enjoy the latest in display technology in 2D experience with the 7 and 9 Series monitors, they will also be able to enjoy a wide variety of native 3D content and, on some models, even watch 2D content in 3D with the brand's real-time 2D to 3D conversion technology."

Innovative 3D Performance

The company has reinvented the 3D monitor experience to allow its users to experience the wide variety of 3D content now available, based on 3D panels available in its displays. The proprietary panel gives the 7 and 9 series monitors a realistic 3D playback, which makes them ideal for PC or console gaming or for watching movies and sports.

Users looking to consolidate their TV and PC monitors or utilise the 7 and 9 Series displays as secondary televisions will appreciate the HDTV/Monitor (MFM) versions, which feature an HDTV tuner for live television in addition to PC and AV playback. The HDTV/Monitor series integrate a convenient picture-in-picture function, allowing for simultaneous activities like viewing live sporting games while managing player stats online.

Eco-friendly

The series feature a built-in glasses sync emitter and is packaged with a pair of 3D active-shutter glasses and middleware for 3D gaming. The LED-backlit panel offers 100% sRGB coverage for realistic colour reproduction and reduces energy consumption by as much as 40% percent. The 9 Series' front, back and all-aluminium base are comprised of recyclable material and is free of mercury and halogens, making it easier to recycle.

The Eco Light Sensor creates a comfortable viewing environment by automatically adjusting the brightness of the screen based on ambient light and it contributes to ease of use and lower energy consumption by automatically turning the display on or off when a user is within or has left the vicinity of the monitor.

Projectors

In addition to these monitors, the company offers 3D display technology with the SP-A8000 3D projector. It has a 1000 ANSI lumen, single-bulb, single-lens design and can convert 2D content to 3D, affording a realistic image and genuine 3D end result. Its glossy black, dolphin-like shape helps it complement the entertainment area, whether incorporated into a modern interior or mounted from the ceiling above.

These products are expected to be available in South Africa during Q2, 2011.
