Spier Films calls for scripts

Spier Films is now actively canvassing for projects seeking production finance. It is looking for material that has been developed by experienced producers that it will co-produce, but will also accept submissions from writers who do not have producers.

The company operates in the production and financing sectors of the film industry with offices in Cape Town and London and has previously produced the groundbreaking films U-Carmen eKayelitsha, that won Golden Bear at the 2005 Berlinale, and Son of Man that was in the official selection at Sundance Film Festival 2006 and nominated for a Grand Jury Prize.

Its latest film is Master Harold…and the boys, a movie adaptation of the play by South Africa's Athol Fugard, starring Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Finding Neverland) and Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction and Mission Impossible).

Its combination of creative producing and finance skills make it extraordinarily committed to the films it takes on. Building on this success means that the company is actively seeking projects that have broad international appeal with very high artistic merits.

There is a submissions policy and agreement, which must be signed before the company will read any material. Projects for review must request a submissions form from Justine Solomon, development executive Spier films on .
