Marketers analyse implications of the ''Worst 4x4xFar'' court case

The Marketing Federation of Southern Africa (MFSA) continues its Networking Breakfasts initiative with a critical analysis by Michael Judin, Senior Partner of attorneys Goldman Judin Maisels Inc and joint-MFSA vice chair.

Judin will examine the outcome of the recent "Worst 4x4xFar" case between Delta Motor Corporation and Jaco van der Merwe, heard by the Supreme Court of Appeal - a critically important judgment for the marketing community.

In the matter, five of South Africa's leading judges agreed that Van der Merwe had defamed Delta Motor Corporation with his "the worst 4x4xfar" campaign, but nevertheless ruled in his favour.

The judgement has been interpreted as a carte blanche licence for dissatisfied consumers to defame marketers' brands, and consequently a serious blow for the marketing community.

Michael Judin will examine the facts of the case, the judgement and its implications for the marketing industry. This is a must-attend event for every marketer responsible for protecting brands.
