Marcus spent his formative media years in the traditional media industry as a media strategist, working for leading media and advertising businesses namely TBWA Hunt Lascaris, Mediacom and Draft FCB. Retained by leading multi-national, banking, brewing and tobacco brands, he built a solid reputation for his ability to comprehend his clients' needs and convert them via innovative marketing solutions which were crucial in achieving clients' goals. This was first rewarded in 2002 where Marcus was pivotal in online retailer bidorbuy's winning of the APEX award for best media launch campaign.
More recently he headed up a highly successful, digital media specialist driving their new business development efforts, before successfully repositioning the commercialisation of Avusa Media Live's online and mobile businesses.
In 2010 Kagiso Media appointed Marcus as General Manager of Microsoft's locally operated MSN portal. Under his leadership the portal has grown in all key performance area's leading to Microsoft's announcement of expansion into Kenya and Nigeria in late 2013. Most recently Marcus has been promoted to General Manager - Publishing for Kagiso New Media, Marcus is now responsible for all things commercial across the Kagiso New Media digital businesses.
