The partnership sees Juta becoming the principal distributor for Westlaw and Practical Law in Africa. It is now easier for the legal community to access authoritative global content through a trusted local provider that understands the unique circumstances of the continent’s legal jurisdictions.

Added to Juta & Co’s existing high-quality offerings to African jurisdictions, access to Thomson Reuters products (which cover over 100 jurisdictions worldwide) will ensure legal researchers now have a complete global resource at their fingertips, all available on some of the world’s most advanced, tech-enhanced research databases.

The Thomson Reuters products that are now available to African customers through Juta include Westlaw, the world’s leading online legal research service database, which collates over 40,000 individual databases of case law, legislation, law journals, and other legal resources from dozens of jurisdictions.

Also on offer is Practical Law, a legal guidance solution that provides practical information to lawyers and in-house compliance offices in a range of disciplines including finance, accounting and banking. Practical Law’s resources include practice notes, standard forms and documents, checklists, legal updates and legislative guides from over 100 countries. They are produced by experienced lawyers with specialist expertise across a range of jurisdictions and practice areas. Practical Law is an important contribution to the efficiency of business in Africa, especially for multinational organisations and firms advising global clients.

Thomson Reuters and Juta are proudly committed to ensuring that Africa’s lawyers, legal academics and businesspeople are not left behind while the world continues to digitalise and share information at an unprecedented rate.
