Design Indaba 2016 to hit Port Elizabeth

The world-renowned Design Indaba Conference, famous for its showcase of innovative and talented out-of-the-box thinkers and designers, will be streamed live from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth between February 17th and 19th. It is brought to the city by Boomtown and its partners: Algoa FM, Axxess, Nelson Mandela Bay Development Agency and Times Media.

For 2016 the annual Design Indaba Festival sees a renewed format. Building onto its flagship Conference and Simulcasts, its inaugural FilmFest will also be screened.

"Design Indaba is a multifaceted platform, committed to a better world through creativity. Our philosophy is the realisation of possibility through creativity, and the simulcast is a demonstration of this: the realisation of possibility by the world's best creative minds is brought to life.

"To bring the event to PE and inspire our community to realise their own possibility is important to us - and something we endeavour to do every day," comments Boomtown Managing Director, Andrew MacKenzie.

Speakers include musician, Imogen Heap, whose innovations include the Mi.Mu gloves and a conceptual platform called Mycelia; Turner Prize-winner Assemble, a London-based studio that merges art, architecture and design to create artful spaces; Snask, a Swedish creative agency who moonlights as a rock band; and Benjamin Hubert, an award-winning British design entrepreneur who focuses on human-centred design. The simulcast will take place in The Athenaeum's Ford Little Theatre in the cultural hub of Port Elizabeth.

Tickets can be purchased online. Day passes are R380, and a three-day pass costs R1,080 with a special offer of R980 per three-day pass when purchasing two passes.
