Mother City agency shines at the One Show

One of the Mother City's leading advertising agencies, FCB Cape Town, has outshone other South African agencies at the One Show Design with two 'pencils'.

In total, South African agencies only managed three design awards - or pencils - between them, which makes the achievement all the more sweet for FCB Cape Town.

Founded in 1975 and based in New York City, The One Club produces three annual awards competitions: the One Show, One Show Design and One Show Interactive, which culminate in awards ceremonies held in New York City each May. The One Club maintains a full-time exhibition gallery, hosts an ongoing series of lectures and events, and produces publications that showcase award winners.

FCB Cape Town's winners, announced this past weekend in New York, were a bronze pencil for "Afro Alphabet", a typeface designed by Shani Ahmed for i-Jusi magazine and a corporate identity for the restaurant "Greek", by creatives Anthony de Klerk and Hanlie Kriel, won a silver pencil. This showed exceptional innovation and creativity - for example, business cards were reproduced as shards of broken plates as opposed to simple stiff board.

Managing director, Brian Stockdale, said: "It's wonderful to get this kind of recognition from international industry peers."

These two One Show Pencils follow the agency's two recent bronze Clio Awards.
