Behind the scenes with Zanele
What are the five most important things you've learnt about running an event?

#1 Patience
#2 Attention to detail
#3 Negotiating better rates with artists and suppliers
#4 Teamwork
#5 Passion - it shows in the end result.

You recently worked on the Metro FM Awards. What was the most challenging thing about that job?

Only having two weeks to put the event together and not having control over the artists' logistics.

What was the highlight of the awards?

It was their first live broadcast and Blue Moon was producing it - it was a very proud moment.

Your job seems very glamorous - is it?

The end product is fabulous and I love the moment when the client walks in and says, "Wow!" But the preparations are very thorough and can be stressful.

If you could choose to produce any event in the world, what would it be?

The American Music Awards (AMAs) and the Grammy Awards.

How would you describe your leadership style?

I would say it's a work in progress. I am very demanding of my team and when it's work time we work very hard, but we play hard as well.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

The fast pace, the adrenaline and creating work that makes everyone proud to be associated with the Blue Moon brand.

How do you relax after a gruellingly long job?

I go to the spa for a full day of pampering, and spend time with my son.

What are you looking forward to in the next couple of months?

There are lots of interesting projects in the pipeline, so watch this space.

Where do you see yourself in five years' time?

Running the Events Department, and more...

Thanks for your time, Zanele. We look forward to featuring your next event.
