Exhibiting the future of HR

The Star HR Summit and Expo was recently held at the Sandton Convention Centre. Incorporating the previous Star HRDE with the Institute of International Research's (IRR) HR Africa Summit, 2010 was the first year that The Star HR Summit and Expo was hosted.

The HR Summit, a four day conference, attracts senior-level directors and HR practitioners from around Africa, to debate urgent issues in the development of human capital, with leading HR speakers. The exhibition was arguably the country's largest HR, education and training exhibitions.

The show focused on human resources, training and development, lifelong learning, skills transfer, recruitment, government initiatives, corporate wellness and life adaptation, as well as support products and technologies.

Says Jelena Kucan, Events Manager for IIR Africa: "The Institute of International Research (IIR) used to host the Africa HR Summit. We combined this major brand with The Star HRDE, to increase the exposure of the show and give us greater access to participating markets."

The IIR is a subsidiary of a leading business information company, Informa PLC. For over 20 years, the IIR has been providing the business world with much needed information. This was the first local event for the IRR. "We are in the process of concluding an agreement with the IRR, which will entail that Oasys serve as the sole infrastructure supplier to Africa Health 2011. This is a grand opportunity for Oasys and we look forward to building a long-lasting relationship with the IRR," says Carl Woodland, Chief Operating Officer for Oasys Exhibitions.

"Sound HR policies are of utmost importance to the contentment of employees and, in turn, the success of the business. It is, as such, the backbone of success. This show is a great opportunity to benchmark policies and gain information on products, services and trends," concludes Woodland.
