Simplifying meetings for everyone

Meetings and conferences are unavoidable realities in the life of any working professional. Arranging meetings at venues that suit the exacting requirements and drawing on resources from professional suppliers for infrastructure can become a daunting task, especially with so many products and services on offer.

It is for this reason that South African Tourism, in partnership with the Gauteng Tourism Authority, the Johannesburg Tourism Company and the Sandton Convention Centre, decided to host an event that would encompass all the elements that make for a constructive meeting environment. ‘Meetings Africa' proved to be a collective display that gave directives for planning and procurement executives.

Oasys Innovations was contracted to again provide infrastructure such as shell scheme, designer stands, carpeting, furniture and electrics for the event. Carl Woodland, Chief Operating Officer for Oasys Exhibitions, says: “Since the first time the event was held, it has grown tremendously in popularity due to its value offering and can be compared with the top international business tourism exhibitions in the world. This was the sixth hosting of this event which provided a ‘one-stop shop' for meeting organisers with exhibitors such as airlines, trade publications, hotels and lodges, conference and events venues, exhibitions and event management companies and more all displaying the best they have to offer.

"The event drew 1894 visitors from all over South Africa and abroad, to the delight of the 272 exhibitors showcasing their products and services at this year's show. Highlights for this year's exhibition included the addition of a special association day where local associations could gain exposure through making contact with potential new members. Special talks on industry topics were presented, such as ‘Meerkat motivation in the workplace', ‘Why South Africa Matters', and ‘Football Friday - what's in it for you!”

Woodland says that with the tsunami of visitors expected to visit South Africa this year Oasys Innovations will plough its new experiences in major events into supporting organisers with innovations that will enhance the overall presentation of meetings, conferences and exhibitions.
