Gill Mkhasibe, from The Alternative Consultancy (TAC), has retail, brand management and consultancy experience in a wide variety of product categories and has gained a reputation for her in-depth knowledge of the informal sector and general consumer trends and her unique research ability. TAC was established in 1988, to bridge the communications and marketing gap between major manufacturers of fast moving consumer goods and township consumers and traders. TAC is now considered to be South Africa's leading company in terms of knowledge and experience of township marketing. TAC is owned by husband and wife team, George and Gill Mkhasibe.

During the tour On the Dot visited many different household types in Khayelitsha, which has a total number of 127,273 households of which 66% are in the LSM 3 and 4, with an average household income of R1,600 - R3,000. There are different permanent household types built from bricks and then you also get the shacks, made from sheet iron and timber or informal houses 'imikhukhu'. By visiting the different type of households On the Dot clients could get a holistic view on township consumers' living standards and cultures.

To end a perfect township tour On the Dot went to the well know Mozoli's Restaurant in Gugulethu for an unbelievable lunch with a delicious African flavour to it, which everyone enjoyed very much... no wonder Jamie Oliver highly recommend this restaurant after his visit to RSA.

On the Dot clients found the township tour to Khayelitsha very informative and cannot wait to attend the next township tour.

“Firstly, I would like to thank you for bringing along Gill Mkhasibe, I thought her presentation about recession and the townships was spot on. I will present it to the rest of the Notabene Crew.

"As for the Township Tour, I appreciate the fact that you showed us all facets of the township, from the middle class to the very poor within the township. Normally when you get invited on tours, the focus is on the squatter areas, and the tourists then get a very skewed view of what is actually happening in townships. This tour however was a truthful representation of the township.” Mashilo Magongoa (Media Analyst Notabene)
