'All Things Bike' put on ice

Following a decision by the management of Gallagher Convention Centre, the 'All Things Bike' (ATB) exhibition and event, which was planned for 18 to 20 February 2011, has been put on ice until further notice.

Says Gallagher Chief Executive, Adolf Venter: "We regret this decision as many bikers were looking forward to visit our venue during the three days. Since the first announcement was made, much work was done by the Gallagher team, and positive feedback was received from many quarters. However, any event of this nature requires forward planning by potential exhibitors who would like to display their products and services. In this case it includes many different brands of motorcycles and accessories. The decision to postpone the event until further notice should allow all relevant players to improve on forward planning in the form of the cost of floor space, displays and public relations initiatives in their annual marketing budgets".

Venter says that, as a blue chip venue, Gallagher has high standards to maintain at all costs. "Our experience shows that, not only do visitors to a show want to be entertained and spend time at leisure, but they want to be informed on what is on offer in the market place. A lack of exhibitors will most certainly lead to disappointment. To us this is unfinished business and what we have done thus far will temporarily be put on ice and we will draw on what we have put in place as soon as a new date has been confirmed. In the meantime we will continue to mobilise all potential marketers of bikes and accessories to exhibit and have a programme in place to delight bikers throughout Southern Africa and beyond. If necessary we can consult on budget allocations if and when required. Once new dates have been confirmed, all relevant markets will be communicated with."
