Gallagher invests in education

The management of Gallagher Convention Centre believes in achieving success through knowledge empowerment of the employees. As a consequence, the company constantly invests in staff training and development programmes.

Training courses are developed and SETA accredited, which will ensure that the qualifications gained are nationally recognised. Part of the training process is that all participants in the course will be assessed to determine training needs. The courses are custom designed to fit each employee's specific requirements and no two courses will be identical.

Says Fernando Fontes, Training Manager for Gallagher: “It is extremely important for the industry we work in to provide service excellence to our customers. This is why the emphasis is placed on holistic training with the primary focus on operational skills.”

Training and development programmes have a positive impact on the morale of the employees and this is achieved through constant training and development, not only in Gallagher's own staff, but also the service providers. Fifty waiters from each service provider will also undergo training, which will place emphasis on five star service delivery.

Comments Charles Wilson, General Manager of Operations: “Gallagher is not only a 32 hectare estate with buildings and gardens. It is a collection of likeminded people who believe that service should be the main priority. In quite a few cases we have return customers asking for specific employees by name. In support of this commitment we are implementing the mentorship program to further develop and grow our employees.”
