A decade of growth

Gallagher is a name that has been tantamount with Midrand since the start of the twentieth century. The Gallagher Convention Centre as we know it now, started as an estate for the Gallagher family. Most of the landscape features on the estate today are still the originals picked out by Mr Gallagher. After its launch as a convention centre in 1995, it has been home to many events of distinction.

During this time Gallagher hosted many conferences and exhibitions in the public sector. In March 2005, the Pan African Parliament was launched at the venue. Due to its public profile, this is a well publicised meeting. The COSATU conference attracted over 3000 delegates in 2009.

Partnering with SARCDA to host their exhibitions was significant due to the large number exhibitors and visitors. SARCDA hosts two exhibitions annually at Gallagher Convention Centre. The Decorex exhibition for interior design has been hosted by the venue since early in the decade and has shown year on year growth since it launched in 1994.

Gallagher also diversified into special events and launched their own event. The first Ben 10 ‘entertainment centre' was held in 2009, while hosting the Miss World 2009 extravaganza was one of the biggest highlights for Gallagher during the period under review.

Gallagher reports on a good order book for 2010, thus building on what has been achieved over the past decade.
