    #LockdownSA: Think Ahead launches free online live coding classes for children

    Think Ahead, in partnership with iStore Meets has launched free online virtual coding classes to children during South Africa's 21-day lockdown. The Think Ahead team will guide children through coding concepts and activities, keeping kids busy, engaged and upskilled for the future. The initiative will use Swift Playgrounds, an app that teaches Apple's Coding language, Swift.

    Classes will be available for students from Grade 4 upwards, with two sessions per day, and will include the following sessions:

    Introduction to coding with Swift Playgrounds: Learn how to code by giving simple commands, write functions and run loops all while solving puzzles in a dynamic 3D world.

    The Incredible Code Machine: Use your coding skills to code new parts for the Incredible Code Machine. Write your own code to create cyborg eyes, electric hoolahoops, meatball sleeves and so much more.

    Build your own game with Hopscotch: Build an interactive digital game, Learn the basic building blocks of programming a game in a fun and interactive way.

    For the grades 6–9 students, the following will be available:

    Introduction to coding with Swift Playgrounds: Learn how to code by giving simple commands, write functions and run loops all while solving puzzles in a dynamic 3D world.

    Lights, Camera, Code! Learn how to code your very own camera app with Swift Playgrounds. Explore your inner designer and code a photo board using your pictures and embellish them with stickers, labels and boarders.

    • Build your own game with Hopscotch: Build an interactive digital game, Learn the basic building blocks of programming a game in a fun and interactive way.
