Tips for holiday makers at World Holiday and Travel Fair

With growing travel costs and a constant increase in tourists it is becoming more and more important to do comprehensive research and planning before undertaking an excursion. This was the focus of the recent World Holiday and Travel Fair (WHTF), held at the Coca-Cola dome, 16-18 April 2010.

Sponsored by International Banking from Absa and media partners The Star and Saturday Star, the WHTF was a success. The offerings by exhibitors at the show included outbound travel products available to persons travelling from South Africa. As the first show of its kind in South Africa, outbound travel took centre stage with many exhibitors introducing new products.

Oasys Innovations supplied the infrastructure for this event, which attracted over 6000 potential holiday makers. “Exhibitors were impressed with the quality of visitors and have indicated that excellent business was conducted over the three-day event,” says Glynis Anderson, General Manager of Thebe Exhibitions and Projects, organiser of the WHTF. “This was the first fair of its kind to showcase international destinations and travel options while offering travel enthusiasts' special offers and the facility to book and pay for their next holiday. Visitors to the show were inspired to travel and many took advantage and didn't waste any time in booking that dream holiday right there and then!”

Travel workshops were held to give holiday makers valuable insight and tips to help when planning their vacations. Leisure activities were provided by the Star Angela Day and Spar Food Theatre in Association with Elba Appliances, the Royal Caribbean Kids Zone and a dedicated STA Youth Travel Pavilion. Many big industry players were represented at the expo, including a wide variety of establishments such as resorts and hotels, together with an array of destinations, airlines, cruise liners, tour operators and ski holiday operators.

Says Carl Woodland, Chief Operating Officer for Oasys Exhibitions, “The World Holiday and Travel Fair is an exciting show to be involved with. Even in its first year, the popularity is evident and shows great growth potential. We are pleased to have been part of this initiative with our infrastructure, electrical installation and custom stands.”
